What kind of a day was it - that July day 102 years ago? Were the birds singing? Well, the angels must have been!

The Harry Street Mission Sunday School began meeting at the Harry Street School on July 8, 1906 as the result of the tireless efforts of Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes. Jesus said "Where two or more are gathered together, for my sake, there am I in the midst of them."

Bethany United Methodist Church was organized as Harry Street Methodist Episcopal Church in 1906. The foundation of the new church was the Sunday School. "No church in Wichita is doing a greater work than the Harry Street Church" said Bethany's first Pastor, the Rev. E. C. Pollard in 1908. He continued by saying, "I thank our heavenly Father for this little church at Harry and Main Streets."
